Beginning a Relationship with God

First, realize that God loves you.

John 3:16 says “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”

You were created to have a relationship with Him.

You have sinned and are separated from God.

“For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;” (Romans 3:23).

Everyone has sinned, no one is perfect.

“For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.” (Romans 6:23)

The recompense of sin is death.

Jesus Christ came and lived a sinless, perfect life. He did not deserve to be punished but chose to die for us, taking our place in a death on the cross.

“But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.”(Romans 5:8).

“Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out…”(Acts 3:19)

You must turn from your sin and receive Jesus Christ into your heart as your Savior and Lord (Master).

Romans 10:9 says “That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.”

To receive God’s free gift of forgiveness and eternal life in heaven, pray this prayer from your heart to Jesus:

“Dear Lord Jesus, I know I’m a sinner, but I believe you died for my sins and rose from the dead. Please forgive me and make me new. I turn from my sins and surrender my life to you. Come into my heart and be my Lord and Savior. Thank you, Jesus for saving me.”

This is the beginning of your relationship with God. You met God today; now get to know Him by doing these things:

  • Spend time daily talking with Him in prayer. (I Thessalonians 5:17)
As you talk to Him, (prayer is talking to God as in a conversation). He will speak back to you in your spirit by the Holy Spirit.
  • Daily read your Bible because it is God’s word. (Romans 10:17)
The number one way that God will speak to us is through His word. As you read your Bible, expect Him to speak to you.
  • Fellowship at a church where the Bible is preached. (Hebrews 10:25)
  • Tell others about your faith in Jesus. (Acts 1:8)T
his will help you to grow as a Christian.
